On the Road
Bird City will be one of over 150 Kansas communities that will be represented at the 21st annual Kansas Sampler Festival. This "all Kansas, all weekend" event will be held in Leavenworth at Ray Miller Park on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, May 2 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Staffing Monty’s booth will be Tim, Robyn, Sherry, and Ty. The booth display will feature each of the five flavors of jerky and is located in the Northwest Kansas tourism booth.
The festival is designed to provide the public a sample of what there is to see, do, hear, taste, learn, and buy in Kansas. In addition to helping the public plan Kansas day trips and learn about Kansas offerings, the festival will also showcase Kansas musicians, historic performers, artists, authors and Kansas foods. Kansas products will be sold in the Kansas Mercantile tent and in some other tents.
Ray Miller Park is located at 4201 South 4th Street. Festival admission is $5 for adults; $3 for children 7-14. For more information call 913.417.7575 or go to www.kansassamplerfestival.com.
Hot rods, street rods, motorcycles and classic cars gathered around Sawhill Park on May 9th for the annual Cheyenne County Car Show. Drivers from the entire Midwest attended the show and Monty’s team was there.
Visitors
Monty’s applauds the Cheylin grade school 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who visited the plant during the first week in May. Students were treated to a behind the scenes look at the entire production process from racking and seasoning the jerky to smoking over hickory chunks.
Monty's received a limerick of gratitude from the Cheylin fifth grade class after they toured our facilities. We always enjoy our visitors, especially visitors that write us poems!
Thanks for the tour of your shop
We fifth-graders liked it a lot.
The baggin' was neat,
The jerky a treat,
And we think you're simply the tops!
